Education

Approximately 80 percent of Americans will suffer from back pain in their lifetime.

Back pain can be caused when the spine is stressed by an injury, poor posture or body mechanics, disease, and wear and tear.

Back pain is categorized as acute or chronic back pain. Acute back pain usually comes on abruptly with intense pain that subsides after a few days or weeks. It often resolves itself with rest, exercise and other self-care measures. Chronic pain is back pain that continues despite treatment.

Learning about back health can help in prevention and treatment of back pain.
